Mrs. Sarah T. Mitchell entered eternal rest on Monday, September 24, 2018 at Thunderbolt Transitional Care and Rehab.
Sarah Truell Mitchell, a women of true strength and great faith, gained her exit on Monday, September 24, 2018 when an angel of the Lord came and gently guided her from labor to reward at Thunderbolt Rehabilitation Nursing Home after a long illness. She was born in Savannah, Georgia on September 14, 1934 to Ola (Small Change) Bush and Toby (Papa) Truell. She was one of fourteen children.
She attended the public schools of Chatham County and was employed for several years as a housekeeper. At an early age she accepted Christ and was baptized at Second St. Luke Baptist Church where she was active in all aspects of the church. Later at a young age she met who would later become her husband and on August 30, 1952 she married Nathaniel Mitchell. To this union three children were born.
She continued showing her children the importance of having God in their life and reared them in the church. She taught them what she called “that little thing called respect” and how important it was to have. Her words were that it would take you a long way in life. Later in life she joined First Friendship Missionary Baptist Church and attended as much as she could. Due to illness Sarah could not continue to attend church often. After a long illness and being a woman of strong faith, she returned to the church.
Sarah had a loving and caring spirit. Family was always of the utmost importance to Sarah. She opened her home to her grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousin. One of her jobs was to organize the family reunions and taking care of the neighborhood children. Sarah lived a full and blessed life. On Monday, September 24, 2018 an angel of the Lord came and gently guided her from labor to reward. A daughter Agnes Bryant preceded her in death.
