Sarah F. (Jenkins) Bryant

June 2, 1932 ~ July 21, 2018 (age 86)

Sarah F. Jenkins Bryant passed away peacefully at her residence on Saturday, July 21, 2018 with her loving husband of 71 years and children by her side, under the care of Kindred Hospice.

She as born June 2, 1932, the daughter of Joseph Jenkins, Sr. and Bessie Bright-Jenkins in Hardeeville, SC ( Levy Community ) .  Sarah accepted Christ and was baptized at an early age, she served on the usher board of Macedonia Baptist Church in Hardeeville, where she received her education in the Jasper County public schools.

Sarah was joined in holy matrimony to her childhood sweetheart Willie Bryant, on May 31, 1947, the loving couple celebrated their 71st Anniversary this year.  She was a devoted wife and mother.  This union was blessed with four children, Willie, Joseph Clairetha and Audrey.

Sarah and Willie moved to Philadelphia, PA in 1952.  They were faithful members of Rising Sun Baptist Church in Philadelphia, PA..  There she was blessed to serve on many auxiliaries.   She was the Vice President/ Secretary of the # 2 Choir and Vice President of the Mass Choir.  She retired as a  Merchandise Associate in the credit department of John Wanamaker Department Store.

After retirement Sarah and her husband relocated to Savannah, Georgia,  After moving she joined Thankful Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. J.W. Williams, Sr., where she served faithfully as a member of the TMBC Gospel Voices and Mass Choir until her health failed.

Sarah had a great love for talking on the phone, fishing, creating ceramics, gardening and singing gospel music.  She was a great cook having passed down her famous German Chocolate Cake recipe to Rodeare, " Dee Dee " who promise to keep the tradition going " only for holidays " .

          " I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:  Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge shall give me at that day; an not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing ".  2 Timothy 4: 7-8

On Saturday, July 21, 2018 at 1:50 p.m., God in his infinite wisdom, called from our mist our beloved Sarah.  Her memories will join those of her parents, siblings, son Joseph, a daughter in love Gleadious and a grandson Hakeem.

Her legacy will live on in the hearts of her loving and devoted husband of 71 years, Mr. Willie Bryant, a son, Mr. Willie James Bryant ( Eva) , two daughters, Clairetha  Richardson (John) and Mrs. Audrey Patterson (Floyd), 11 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren,  and one great great grandchild  and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends far and near.

Sarah loved all of her " Sugar lump dumps " and " Chick a Boos " which was her own special terms of endearment for her children, grands and special people in her life.  " Love and Kisses" from Aisha and Rodeare who enjoyed taking great care of  " Grandma ".Our great conversations will forever be remembered.  She was adored and admired b anyone who had an opportunity to meet her.

A celebration of life for Mrs. Sarah F. Jenkins  Bryant will be held 11:00 a.m., Friday, July 27, 2018 at Thankful Missionary Baptist Church, 820 Martin Luther King Jr., Blvd.  Savannah, Ga., the Rev. Timothy Sheppard, Officiating.  Interment - Shad Cemetery, Levy, SC .
