July 17, 2018

Psalms 91:1-2

He that dwelleth in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of Jehoah, He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in whom I trust

Mr. Hampton and Mrs. Rosa Mike announced the birth of their second child, Richard Mike on June 26, 1930 in Coosawhatchie, South Carolina.  His parents whom preceded him in death, ensured that their children were cultivated in a Christian environment. Richard, affectionately known as “King Richard” was a devoted member of First Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, where he loved his church family unconditionally.

He received his formal education from the Jasper County Public School System. Richard was joined in Holy Matrimony on December 2, 1951 to the late Carrie F. Mike. Richard and Carrie moved to Savannah, and from this union, they were blessed with eight blended children. One son, Carl A. Mike preceded him in death. As a devoted father and GREAT provider, Richard was a firm believer in taking care of his family. He was employed by Union Camp for many years and later an entrepreneur who operated several businesses.

The legacy of Richard “King Richard” will forever live on. He leaves to cherish four sons: Richard (Delores) McPherson of Ridgeland, SC, Richard (Marilyn) Mike, Jr., Hampton (Reina) Mike, Sr., and Clorenzo Griffin, four daughters: Nellie Dunbar, Ethel Mae Howard, Deborah (Sam) Cook, and Richardean (Mark) Carpenter all of Savannah.
