Beautiful memories of a vivacious son, brother, nephew, cousin and friend. JOSEPH "JOEY" JONES, III, was born February 16, 1989 in Savannah, Georgia. He was born to Joseph Jones, Jr. and Cheryl Williams Jones.
"Joey" was baptized at the age of 9 years old and became a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church in Arlington, Texas. He knew and loved the Lord, knew the scriptures well and frequently studied them.
He graduated from James W. Martin High School in Arlington, Texas the Class of 2007. He was on the wrestling team for three (3) years and went "undefeated" in his junior year.
Starting at age five (5) , "Joey" practiced ATA Martial Arts for 18 years and earned his 3rd degree black belt. Notably, "Joey" helped his parents start the Christian Karate Ministry at Cornerstone Baptist Church, a ministry for youth that motivated, stimulated and taught discipline to students. "Joey" also studied "Olympic Style " Martial Arts and Kung Fu.
He was fitness aficionado, avid reader, movie lover, video-game pro, passionate animal lover and an excellent snow skier.
Joseph "Joey" Jones, III was summoned sweetly and departed this life on August 24, 2018. He was welcomed by the Lord.
Surviving are his parents, Joseph Jones, Jr. and Cheryl Williams Jones of Texas, his brothers, Benjamin Gregory Jones of California and Joshua Jeffrey Jones of Texas, Freddie Douglas Eason, III ( first cousin- but grew up together as brothers) of Texas, Cody Cannon Jenkins ( a lifetime best friend and like a brother ) of Texas, an aunt, Carol Williams Ellison of Georgia, and an aunt and uncle, John Wayne & Pamela Jones Harbour of New Jersey, first cousins, Cherona Williams Graham and husband, Joshua Jamaine Graham and Lannecia Carol Ellison of Georgia, Victoria Heath Harbour, Alexandra Taylor Harbour and Catherine Burke all of New Jersey, other aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of other relatives and friends.
Preceding him in death, a brother, Jeffrey Daron Vaughn, Jr., maternal grandfather, Roosevelt Julius Williams, maternal grandmother, Alice Bevens Climes, maternal great grandfather, Franklin Benjamin Bevens, paternal grandfather, Joseph Jones, Sr., paternal grandmother Verneta Glasper Jones, paternal uncle, Gregory L. Jones.
Graveside service 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 5, 2018 in Oak Grove Cemetery.
