Idanell Brown Seabrook Abraham

Mrs. Idanell Brown Seabrook Abraham entered eternal rest on Thursday, September 27, 2018 at Hospice Savannah, Inc. 

Idanell was born January 12, 1942 in Beaufort County, South Carolina to the late Mary Brown Stoney and the late Ezekiel Murray.  She matriculated through the schools in Beaufort and graduated from Robert Smalls High School in 1960.  She moved to Savannah at an early age and married John Seabrook jr in1961.  To this union, their three beautiful children, Mark Terrel, Abraham (Antoinette), and Nettie Lynn were born.  Later in life she met and married General Abraham Jr. who also preceded her in death. 

Idanell retired from the Savannah-Chatham County School system in 1990 as a cafeteria manager. She later retired from Savannah State University in 2006 as a dining attendant.  She was also a housekeeper for the Levy family for many years.  “Nell” as many loved ones knew her, never met a stranger and always loved to make people laugh.  She opened her heart and home to many of the children she served over the years. 

Mrs. Idanell Brown Seabrook-Abraham passed away peacefully under the excellent and professional care of Hospice of Savannah on September 27, 2018 at 5:15pm, surrounded by her loving family.  In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Francis, Marvin, and Rufus E. Stoney. 

  In addition to her children, she is survived by seven brothers, Eugene Robinson Beaufort, SC, Anthoney E. Stoney and Harold L. Stoney (Linda) of Newport News, VA, Ezekiel Stoney (Celestine) of New York, NY, Andrew Murray (Hazel), Walter Murray (Katie) of Beaufort, SC, and Darren Jackson of Mount Zion, SC, two sisters, Shirley Patterson (Ronald) of Beaufort, SC, and Connie Murray of Cayce, SC, six grandchildren, Antoinette Nicole, Ericka Eugenia, Eric Lynn, Ha’Sahn Terel, Carlene A’mani, and Caryzma Lynn, 8 great-grands, 1 great-great grand, two god-children, Cha’Ron Sibert of Savannah, GA, and Jonathan Barnes of Stone Mountain, GA, in addition to a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. 

Funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 4, 2018 at

Resurrection of Our Lord Catholic Church 

112 Fell Street Savannah, GA 31415

Interment ~ Catholic Cemetery.
