Mrs. Georgia Young Griffin entered eternal rest on Monday, December 3, 2018 at Memorial Health University Medical Center.
Georgia Mae Griffin passed away on December 3rd, 2018. A native of Screven County, Girard, GA, Georgia Mae was born on June 16th, 1951. She was the youngest of six children. As the baby of the family, she was well loved by her parents Dewey and Daisy Bell Young as well as by her brothers and sisters: Dorothy Williams, Berlice Mason, Gwendolyn Finney, Willy “Duke” Butler, and Dewey Young Jr.
When she moved to Savannah, GA, she became a member of St. Philip Monumental A.M.E. Church, trained at Savannah Technical College to become a Certified Nursing Assistant and worked as a nurse at Chatham Nursing Home. In addition to being a nurse, Georgia Mae was a faithful caregiver for her niece Angela Young. She was also a faithful caregiver for her elderly parents in their later years until their deaths. Georgia Mae was married to her loving husband and friend Brigham Griffin for 22 years and will always be the proud mother of her daughter Maureen Griffin.
George Mae Griffin was 67 years old and is survived by her husband Brigham Griffin, her daughter Maureen Griffin, her brother Dewey Young Jr., her sister Dorothy Williams, her nieces Angela Young, Jordan Young, Jondrea Finney, and Sharyn Finney, and by a host of aunts, cousins, and friends.
Funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 13, 2018 at
St. Phillip Monumental AME Church 112 Jefferson St. Savannah, GA
