Mr. Ernest Williams, Jr. entered eternal rest on Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at Hospice Savannah, Inc.
Ernest was born in Waycross, Georgia on April 4, 1939 the son of Irene and Ernest Williams, Sr.
He accepted Christ at an early age and became a member of St. Peters's Baptist Church in Waycross.
He receive his formal education in the Ware County public school system and was a graduate of Center High School Class of 1958.He furthered his education by attending Savannah State College and was drafted in the U.S. Army and served two years and was honorably discharged. He then returned to Savannah State College and completed his degree in Biological Science. He was a member of the Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.
He was employed by the National Institute of Health ( NIH) in Bethesda, MD and retired as a Scientist.
He met and married the love of his life, Delores King of Garden City, Ga., and became a devoted father to Charles, Joseph, Pinkey, Alphonso and Julius King.
Ernest was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and his siblings; Elizabeth Tyson, Loretta Johnson, Rosa Lee Morgan, Charlie James Williams and Irene Gant.
He leaves to cherish his memories along with his children, four sisters, Lenora Brown, of McRae, Ga., JoAnn Smith ( Fred ), Cora Porter ( Johnny ) and Eva Burse ( Leonard ) , one brother, Leon Williams ( Gloria ) all of Waycross, Ga., a Godson, Ernest Jones, brothers and sisters-In-law, Vudred Smith ( Barbara ), Robert Edwards ( Frankie ), Julius Smith ( Mattarine) , Minnie Smith and Larry Smith, a devoted niece, Clementine Tyson, a devoted cousin, Dana Mobley, twenty five grandchildren, thirty seven great grandchildren, a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 2, 2018 at
St. Paul CME Church 1601 Barnard St. Savannah, GA 31401
